Artist Roy Pendleton
The painting on our home page was specially commissioned from Roy Pendleton
to capture the mood and manner of R and R Horse Ranch. Owners Amanda Cooper
and Jim Noel are pictured among their beloved horses in the mountain-view
setting of the ranch.
A glance
at Roy Pendleton's images immediately informs the viewer of his artistic
heroes: Fra Angelico, Giotto and William Blake. The intimate, personable
and visually appealing quality of his work serves to disarm the viewer
and break down his defenses.
Pendleton's
career began as a freelance illustrator in Chicago in 1982. He taught
drawing at Roosevelt University there before moving to New York in 1986,
where his career took off. Over the years he has worked for a wide range
of clients from corporate to editorial, including 3M Corporation, Business
Week, the New York Times and Atlantic Monthly. His work has won a number
of awards. His paintings are part of several private collections, and
have been included in exhibitions in Europe, Japan and the USA.
